I am Avery Messer—an ambitious and creative entrepreneur. I am an influential fashion designer, stylist, student, and the founder of The Digital Label. Everything I do is rooted in glamour, intention, and passion.

My love for fashion started when I was little: playing with Barbies, making outfits out of wrapping paper, sketching dresses, watching Say Yes to the Dress, and sewing from a very young age. As I grew up in a small town in Maine, fashion became the one place where I felt limitless, as there were no strict rules. By high school, I was fully committed. I was taking art classes, completing a distinguished graduate project on sustainable biofabrics, and I even did an independent study in fashion design.

Traveling to Europe—especially Italy, London, and Paris—shaped me even more. Those experiences ignited my love for other cultures, style, and the glamorous life I desire. I earned a place in the first-year in Italy Fashion Design program at FIT and moved to Florence in August 2024. Soon after starting, I realized I was meant to study a different side of fashion. I left the program in October 2024 and recently been readmitted to FIT with a major in Fashion Business Management.

FIT was the only college I ever wanted to attend. After visiting Florence years earlier, I knew I had to find a way back. I researched programs, planned obsessively, and turned that dream into a rational plan. After a long battle with depression and poor mental health, I reached a point where I truly felt I had nothing to lose. Fashion had always been the constant in my life and I finally accepted that it was my future.

My personal style is definitely eclectic: classy with a hint of edge, touches of bohemian and 90s influences, and always a love for being fancy. The aesthetic of my brand represents a chaotic elegance: a lifestyle where creativity is rich, bold, and beautifully imperfect.

I’m mainly inspired by travel, by my friends, and by history. The inspiration led me to create The Digital Label was the idea of having one space for all my creations: designs, moodboards, styling boards, writing, my portfolio, and a place for people to contact me. It’s my digital museum, a place for people to explore with curiosity and leave inspired.

When people visit The Digital Label, I want them to feel excited to chase their dreams and take charge of their life. I want my mark on the industry to be left through professional styling, designing, and wearing what I create.

Right now, I do work in styling, writing, creative direction, design, and content creation. I sometimes assist in event planning as well. In the next 5 years, I see myself finishing my BS in Fashion Business Management, building a community on social media, running my styling company, and starting my design business. I picture myself making more than enough money, leaving my other jobs to pursue my entrepreneurial path, travel, take more creative courses, collaborate with others in my niche, style bigger clients, and attend important fashion events. My social circle will be filled with like-minded friends, and I will be investing in my future.

My ambition and self-expression drive everything I do, but I also value my ability to make an impact, both on the world and on my own life. Aesthetics matter to me in every area, and I believe aesthetics impact mental health and, for me, they belong together. Glamour doesn’t have to mean partying or being social 24/7. Taking care of yourself is glamorous. A fancy robe and a lit candle just add to the experience.

Behind the curtain, I’m someone who works hard, feels deeply, and wants to create a beautiful life. I’ve had to rebuild myself more than once, and I’m proud of the balance of strength and softness I carry. I don’t pretend to have everything all figured out—I just keep moving forward.
